Moodle: New Assignment Rubric Usage

Create more advanced grading with criteria-based assessment.

1.

The first thing we’re going to do is to navigate to our Moodle course of choice, and create a new Assignment activity, after clicking on ‘Turn Editing On’ in the top right corner.

Next, we’ll scroll down to the Grade category and expand it. Then change the type to Rubric.

Once the assignment is created, we’ll click on the gear icon on the top right, and then select the rubric option.

Once here, we will be able to create a new rubric, or edit an existing one. This is the lecturer view when grading:

As a student, once graded, you will see this rubric: This is the Student view:

Scrolling down you will be able to see a few options you can tick on or off. Some of these can be very useful in controlling your assessment.

You can add more criteria and columns in wherever you need, to customise everything.

You can add comments next to each row, that students can see after being graded.
