AI Image Generators: DALL-E & StableDiffusion

Use these two forefront runners to create realistic images and art from descriptions in natural language.

DALL-E

DALL·E 2 is a new AI system that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language.

Lecturers and students can use DALL-E to generate images for their presentations or projects. For more information on usage and copyrights: see https://openai.com/terms/

You can write anything in the text box, combining concepts, ideas, attributes and more. Or not at all. You can also use the Surprise me button to have it generate some text for you.

The system will generate a series of images for you, you can mouse over and click on the top right of each image to see what you can do, including to download it.

You can then select one of the images, and click on Variations to have the system generate a series of new images based on your selected original image. You will not lose the original one.

You can continue to repeat the Variations process and dive further down until you find something you need, or have the system morph the images beyond recognition compared to the very first original image.

You can also use the History section to see your previously generated images.

If you’re happy with what you have, you can combine it with the Collections functionality to create groups of images for future use and ease of access.
